Super Mario Star Road Summary

Super Mario Star Road

Now using the Enhanced Console Port Edition by N64 Wizard! It greatly improves framerate issues which was a complaint of the older console version.

Do note that this patch displays the message 'Surface node pool full' and ‘Node pool full’ on the bottom of the screen at all times, which can be annoying. Turning the HUD off fixes this (Press "start", then Press "R", go to settings, and set HUD to disabled). You may want to also enable the 'PoppyCam2' config for better camera control.

Super Mario Star Road
is a ROM Hack made by Skelux. It was released around Christmas 2011, and contains 130 Stars. This ROM hack is considered to be one of the most famous. It contains levels with similar design to the original Super Mario 64, which is overall very solid and fun.

This hack tries to be a sequel, or another version, of the original Super Mario 64, in terms of level design, difficulty, and plot. Not only are all of the levels redone using custom graphics (some of which directly come from other Nintendo 64 games), but custom music and custom enemies have been added as well. The level entrances range from simple pipes or paintings to more unconventional entrances, such as a vase or an easel. In addition, the boss fights have been changed; Bowser himself is only fought once in the game, at the end of the final Bowser level. In the first two Bowser levels, Mario must defeat a mini-boss in order to obtain the key to the next area.

THIS HACK REQUIRES AN EXPANSION PAK

Clarity
Just to clarify on the "disappointing" review. The description does state that when you get a game over screen the display goes black and softlocks. This just requires a reset. The game is fully playable and beatable on hardware. It was however never meant to run on hardware to begin with so the fact that it works in any form is amazing. This is the best you can get if you want to play on console.

Not really new condition
Title is a bit misleading, the internal parts of the cartridge is likely brand new but I received an old shell with plenty of wear and rust on the interior parts of the undercarriage. I'm sure the game will work as intended once I try it out. Just be aware of the shell conditions if you plan to purchase.
Reply From OCDreproductions:
Blue shells are not currently produced new. Many of our games use original shells.

Its impressive, but needs improvement
I will say first of all getting this game onto a cartridge for the N64 is incredible and I hope that people can continue to do this with other Mario 64 mods however I just got this game a few days ago and while I am impressed with the visuals it s still a bit glitchy, buggy, and slow running. I find it a bit difficult to play especially since Mario s reactions times are slow and some glitches prevent me from grabbing some ledges or getting to where I need to go. So to people who made this possible good job, but I would recommend fixing the issues so the game can be more enjoyable.

Mon avis
Merci 3

Disappointing!
This hack DOES NOT run well on my Nintendo 64 console. It's incredibly buggy when I run around on the maps; there are graphical jitters everywhere. I tried to race Koopa the Quick in the Mushroom Mountain Town level and he got stuck on some of the geometry. I went to the Bob-Omb Battlefield level and fought the King Bob-Omb boss - I was able to complete it, but when I hit Save & Quit upon getting back to the hub world, it went to a black screen. Oddly enough the audio was still going, and controls were still working, but there was no picture or visual. A few times during gameplay, the screen would flash to a black screen for a moment as well. I thought that there could potentially be a problem with the expansion pack I'm using (it's a standard issue expansion pack) but every other game I use on the console works perfectly fine; this game was able to save the one star I got to File A, so I don't think it's the expansion pack. Any insight or tips would be appreciated. E-mail -
