Clock Tower is a 2D psychological horror, point n' click style game, where the player controls a cursor to direct the main character, Jennifer Simpson, and give commands such as investigating objects or opening doors. The interface is akin to 1990-era computer adventure games, but simplified to work better with a controller. Primarily, the player can only move Jennifer left and right through the environment, although there are some rooms in which an action requires Jennifer to step into the background.

There are now two versions of this game to select from. There is the original version which is the original unmodified English translation and there is the new Deluxe version. The Deluxe version adds mouse support as well as new content from the PlayStation port to the SNES original. There are also lots of improvements like bugfixes and the ability to run through stairs, speed up the credits along with faster health regeneration.
