Violinist of Hameln Summary

Violinist of Hameln

This game was made for SNES by Enix (which also published the GanGan Comics magazine) and is a side-scrolling platformer. It follows the manga reasonably well but changes are made so Flute is met at the beginning of the story but as the game progresses huge jumps are made in the story. The game requires you to throw Flute and put her in various costumes in order to reach the end of the level. Numerous demons from the manga appear in the game as bosses.

One of the best Side-Scrolllers out there
Violinist of Hameln is a great platform game. That is made by Enix. It is based on the old anime / magna series. Now you make think playing a game where you attack with a violin may be stupid but it is not. It is very fun and unique. You have a partner named Flute. You can throw her against walls and enemies - she can where different suits in the game which you need in order to solve different obstacles in game. Need to jump higher? Frog suit. Need to walk over spikes? Ostrich suit. Etc. The controls are smooth the graphics are good and the music is great. The only problem I ran into was I had missed a suit that I needed to get past one spot and I was stuck and could not go back (curling suit) - it was a bit annoying. I had to reset. Oh well mistakes happen maybe I just suck. This is my favourite side-scrolling platform game on the SNES - save maybe Mario. I had no issues with cart on real hardware. Highly recommended.
